About Our Store

Nestled proudly in the heart of Mt. Horeb, Sugar River Yarns celebrates the art of creation and connection. Though we opened our doors in 2025, our founder Stephanie brings decades of knitting expertise to every corner of this beloved space. Our shelves overflow with vibrant yarns, including a selection of carefully curated resale yarn, handcrafted bags, inspiring books, and unique accessories—each thoughtfully selected. We host regular classes where beginners find confidence and experienced crafters refine their skills, along with community events that bring like-minded makers together. We believe in savoring slower moments and authentic connections, creating a space where visitors become friends and shopping feels like discovery.

About Mt. Horeb

Mt. Horeb grew from humble Norwegian roots into a vibrant village where history breathes through limestone buildings and charming wooden carvings along Main Street. Cyclists pedal in for respite along the Military Ridge Trail, while families linger in our cafés and shops. We're small enough to remember your name but spirited enough to surprise you. Our community celebrates both tradition and the unexpected—a place where the past and present dance together in perfect harmony.

About the Sugar River

The Sugar River winds through the Driftless area like a ribbon, carving its patient path through valleys and farmland. Stephanie named the shop for the river because of her love of the outdoors and her desire to connect the shop to conservation efforts for the Sugar River watershed.
