Harrisville Designs - nightshades
Harrisville Designs Nightshades is a three-ply DK weight yarn spun from a blend of American Cormo and wool. Where Daylights works in pale, natural tones, Nightshades goes the other direction: twelve shades of black and near-black, each one marbled with a dusting of color. The colorways evoke a vibrant nightlife: Stiletto, Talk Radio, Dashboard, Last Call, VCR, Insomnia, Street Light, Cinder, Fever Dream, 12:57, Static, Vinyl. They're moody in a way that's hard to find in a dark yarn. Woolen-spun for a characteristic loft and airiness, Nightshades is light in your hand and lovely in fabric, well suited to garments, accessories, and much more.
Harrisville has been spinning 100% virgin wool in their water-powered brick mill since 1794, making them one of a handful of working woolen mills left in this country and the only 19th-century textile village in America that survives in its original form. Their commitment to place, to clean energy, and to keeping American textile tradition alive is something we share here at Sugar River Yarns. When you choose Harrisville, you're supporting a mill with deep roots and a genuine investment in its future.
